Notre Dame Makes Good First Impression On Offensive Lineman Max Riley

Notre Dame made a good first impression on talented Ohio offensive lineman Max Riley

Notre Dame was busy hosting several big time recruits over the weekend for spring practice. That includes Avon Lake (Ohio) High School offensive tackle Max Riley, who is one of the top offensive lineman in the 2026 recruiting class.

Although Riley has a high ranking, and tremendous offer list, the Irish have not yet extended an offer to the Ohio native. Despite that, Notre Dame made a solid early impression with Riley over the weekend. He is definitely intrigued by everything they have to offer.

"Overall the visit was pretty good,” Riley told Irish Breakdown. "My favorite part was hearing about their strength program. The conversations were also pretty good. I enjoyed sitting through meetings and seeing how they break down film. It was a great insight.”

It’s uncertain whether Notre Dame will extend an offer, but regardless they are a team that is on Riley’s radar. If they do throw their hat in the ring, they are a program to watch.

"This was my first time meeting the staff so I think it’s still working on building relationships,” he explained. "I’m interested to see where my recruitment goes from there.

“Notre Dame obviously has a great reputation and develops offensive lineman at a high level,” Riley added. “I’m excited to continue building the relationship.”

Riley is very well respected from a recruiting rankings perspective. Both 247Sports and Rivals view him as a four-star recruit. He ranks highest by the latter, who have him pegged as the No. 9 overall player and No. 3 offensive tackle in the 2026 recruiting class. Both platforms have Riley rated as the No. 1 player in the state of Ohio.

The 6-5, 265-pound offensive lineman is also being courted by some of the top programs in all of college football. Some of his notable offers currently include the Irish, Alabama, Ohio State, Michigan, Miami, Texas A&M, Florida State, Penn State, Tennessee, Kentucky, Michigan State, Wisconsin, Virginia Tech, Pittsburgh, Boston College, Purdue, West Virginia and Indiana among others.
