Nebraska Defender Teddy Rezac Recaps "Great" Notre Dame Visit
The relationship between Notre Dame and 2024 Omaha (Neb.) Westside defender Teddy Rezac is moving quickly. Last week, Al Golden visited Westside to check in on Rezac and speak with his coaches.
On Saturday, the Irish staff extended an offer to the Nebraska native. The very next day, Rezac and his family were making the trip to South Bend for a multi day-visit.
In an interview with Irish Breakdown, Rezac went in depth on that recent visit to Notre Dame. As expected, that trip moved the needle for the star linebacker.
"The visit was great,” Rezac explained. "My favorite parts were the meetings I had on Monday with all the coaches. The conversations went really well and I had a chance to really get to know them all. My thoughts on them are that they are really smart people, whose goal is to win national championships.
"They see me as the Rover, and then potentially moving to the middle when I grow into my frame,” he continued. "I think that would be a really good fit for me. I think my versatility could be a big help to the team.”
Before the visit, Rezac was open about his timeline. He wanted a decision to be made before his senior season. That is still the plan, although it sounds like there might be some re-evaluation happening.
“I’m not sure when exactly I want to make a decision,” Rezac said. “For me, I’ll know when I know. I have a lot to think about.”
By the sounds of it, Notre Dame’s combination of high level football, academics and coaching staff have put themselves in a very good position. This recent visit may have put them in pole position going down the stretch.
"Notre Dame is definitely a really intriguing opportunity without question,” he said. "They offer pretty much everything that I’m looking for in a school and program.”
Rezac has a modest recruiting profile as it currently stands. So far, he has earned offers from Notre Dame, Missouri, Boston College, Colorado State, Coastal Carolina, Navy, Army, Air Force, North Dakota State, South Dakota State, Northern Iowa, Dartmouth and Fordham.
The 6-4, 190-pound athlete was a substantial difference maker on both sides of the ball for the 12-1 Westside squad. On defense, Rezac collected 62 total tackles, four tackles for loss, a sack, one forced fumble and two interceptions.
On offense, he hauled in 32 receptions for 414 yards and four touchdowns.
