Notre Dame Offensive Line Commit Peter Jones Has Seen His Game Evolve
Having been committed to Notre Dame since August 7th of last year, 2024 Malvern (Pa.) Prep offensive lineman Peter Jones doesn’t get much talk amongst Irish fans. Partly because of the position he plays, as well as the physically yet underappreciated style he brings to the game.
Jones has been grinding over the last several months, preparing for a big senior season. It may not be flashy, but the Pennsylvania native has just been enjoying the process overall.
“The off-season has been awesome,” Jones told Irish Breakdown. “There haven’t been any major highlights but it’s been a blast. I’ve just been working hard and really enjoying the grind.
“I think I’m seeing my impact in the run game and just overall awareness improving,” Jones added. “I definitely feel myself bending much better and being a lot quicker out of my sets in pass protection.”
Malvern Prep is a proud program, and one of the best from the area. The Friars are coming off of a 9-2 overall record during the 2022 season, outscoring opponents by a 271 to 78 margin.
According to Jones, the season was extremely fulfilling but the team did fall short of a couple goals. They are what has become the standard for the proud program.
“My goals are to win our league and go undefeated,” he said. “That’s the standard at Malvern.”
Jones also already has his eyes set on the next level, although he wants to enjoy his final season on the high school level first. He has become a vital member of a talented 2024 Irish class, one that he believe could be a special one.
“The relationships with the rest of the 2024 class are great,” Jones explained. “Everyone kinda brings their own energy and personality which meshes really well. I think this group is incredibly special and I can’t wait to play with them all.”
The Pennsylvania native ranks as high as the No. 90 overall player and No. 3 interior offensive lineman in the 2024 recruiting class according to Rivals. ESPN also has him rated as a four-star recruit.
The Malvern Prep standout opted for the Irish in the beginning of August. He chose the Irish over other offers from Michigan, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Penn State, Nebraska, Kentucky, Michigan State, South Carolina, Wisconsin, Pittsburgh, Maryland, Virginia, Boston College, West Virginia and Duke among others.
