Offensive Lineman Grant Brix Is Quickly Developing A Strong Relationship With Notre Dame
On Wednesday, the Notre Dame staff extended an offer to 2024 Logan (Iowa) Magnolia offensive tackle Grant Brix. The Iowa native is just the ninth offensive lineman offered in the 2024 recruiting class, a compliment from Harry Hiestand who traditionally keeps very small recruiting boards.
That offer from the Irish came amongst the madness of the last two weeks. Brix has been one of the hottest names in the Midwest and has heard from a ton of coaches, as well as received a plethora of offers. It’s a process that he is grateful for and handling the best he can.
"It was pretty hectic before the dead period,” Brix said. "I had a few coaches come through in those couple of weeks to talk to my coaches and all that. I was in and out of classes, it was fast paced but I managed just fine.
"I’m in wrestling right now so I’m really just focused on finishing the season strong,” he added. "I’m doing my best to take things slow and try to enjoy it all.”
Notre Dame was among those visitors. In a short amount of time, Brix has been developing a good relationship. There is clearly a ton of interest from the Irish.
"Coach (Chad) Bowden was actually the first to call me,” Brix explained. "I talked to him and then had a chance to talk to both Coach (Chris) Watt and Coach Hiestand. After we spoke, Coach Hiestand had a chance to come by the school and he extended the offer.
"I was just super excited,” he continued. "It was a great day.”
With so many top programs already courting Brix, it’s important that he knows what is most important to him when selecting a school. Brix knows what he wants, what is important and the absolute criteria for making that decision, which will end when he has found the right feeling.
"The biggest thing for me is mainly going to be the people in the building and the coaches,” he explained. "You can have the nicest facilities in the world but without the people behind it, it just won’t be the right fit. Of course academics are also going to be important. I’m still figuring out what I want to study but I know that there will be options out there.
"There really isn’t a timetable right now,” Brix continued. "When I feel like it is the right time and the right decision, I will just know.”
Brix is well regarded by On3. On their ranking system he is rated as a four-star recruit, the No. 122 overall player and No. 7 interior offensive lineman in the 2024 recruiting class. They also have him rated as the No. 1 player in the state of Iowa.
The 6-6, 270-pound offensive lineman is garnering interest from some of the premier Midwestern powers, as well as some other blue blood programs outside of the region. Some of the notable programs who have offered Brix so far include the Irish, Miami, Oklahoma, Penn State, Tennessee, Nebraska, Auburn, Wisconsin, Iowa, Michigan State, Kansas State, Minnesota, Illinois, Iowa State, Missouri, Northwestern, Duke, and Kansas among others.
