Offensive Lineman Rowan Byrne Recaps "Dream School" Offer From Notre Dame

Standout 2025 offensive tackle Rowan Byrne recaps visit and offer from Notre Dame

One of the best performers at the recent Notre Dame Evaluation Camp was 2025 offensive tackle Rowan Byrne, a standout blocker from New Rochelle (N.Y.) Iona Prep. After a great workout, his day concluded with officially being offered by the Irish staff.

As it turns out, this offer was a massive one for Byrne. He holds the Notre Dame program in a very high regard.

"My experience at Notre Dame was amazing,” Byrne explained. "I love campus and I loved spending time with the staff. I performed very well today. The coaches reflected that with their thoughts on me and by offering me.

"I found out about the offer when Coach (Marcus) Freeman told me when I was meeting with him,” he continued. "My mind was really blown. I mean I love Notre Dame, it's my dream school. Dreams came alive when Coach freeman told me that and you can’t really explain that. It was amazing.”

Judging by early comments, Notre Dame is going to be a major player for Byrne moving forward. A big part of it we’re the coaches, who the talented offensive lineman was very complimentary of.

"I learned a lot as well,” he explained. "I worked extremely well with Coach (Joe) Rudolph like an offensive line dynamic duo. He really gets me and we worked super well together .... The staff was pumped when they knew I was offered. I feel like the whole staff is excited to recruit and get guys on campus and I love it there.”

Bryce is considered a four-star recruit on the On3 ranking. He currently sits as the No. 153 overall player and No. 14 offensive tackle in the 2025 recruiting class. That ranking also has Byrne rated as the top player in the state of New York.

The 6-6, 290-pound offensive tackle has been pulling in a variety of scholarship offers over the last few weeks. Some of the notable programs who have pulled the trigger include Notre Dame, Michigan, Texas A&M, Wisconsin, Stanford, Maryland, Minnesota, Boston College, Duke, Pittsburgh, Syracuse and Rutgers among others.

Byrne is a big reason for the offensive success that the Gaels had last season. En route to a 9-3 overall record, the offense averaged 461.1 yards per game. They were especially impressive in running the football, averaging 257.3 yards per game on the ground, 39 touchdowns and 8.3 yards per carry.
