Notre Dame Offer "A Dream Come True" For 2024 Defensive End Cameron Clark

Notre Dame made a huge initial impression on 2024 Tennessee defender Cameron Clark

One of the big risers on the defensive line in the 2024 recruiting class is Medina (Tenn.) South Gibson defender Cameron Clark. On Thursday, Clark was offered by the Notre Dame staff.

In total, Clark has received all of his 16 scholarship offers since the beginning of January. Some of the notable programs that have offered include the Irish, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Virginia Tech, Louisville, Purdue, Vanderbilt, and Duke among others.

He is a player who projects favorably to both linebacker and defensive end on the next level but the Irish staff sees him on the defensive line. That recent offer from the Irish meant a lot to the Tennessee standout, who was incredibly complementary of the Notre Dame brand.

“It was truly a blessing and a dream come true to receive the offer from Notre Dame,” said Clark. “Coach (Al) Washington was the one who extended it to me and was very complimentary of all the skills I bring to the table.”

Of course, there are a lot of coaches and schools who have been showing interest recently. Notre Dame appears to be a program that can cut the gap quickly.

“My recruitment has been going pretty well so far this off-season and is really heating up,” Clark explained. “Schools like Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, Purdue, Virginia Tech, Miami (OH), Liberty and Duke have been recruiting me well so far. I’m excited to get to know the coaches at Notre Dame better.”

The familiarity with the Irish program promises to only improve in the coming months. Clark is already planning his first trip to South Bend in the near future.

“I haven’t made the trip up to Notre Dame before but I plan on going up there this spring for a visit,” he said. “It’s a place that I’m really excited to see.”

As of now, Clark is planning on making his college decision before the start of his senior season. He will be an interesting player to monitor with the increased level of interest. Notre Dame appears ready to make a major impact if the fit makes sense.

As a junior, Clark was a big time performer on both sides of the football for South Gibson. On defense, the 6-5, 225-pound defender played both linebacker and defensive end this past season. He recorded 80 total tackles and eight sacks on the season.

Clark was also a big weapon as a tight end on the offensive side of the ball. On top of the three touchdowns receptions, he was a constant big play waiting to happen.
