The 2025 quarterback board for Notre Dame is an embarrassment of riches, boasting talented signal callers from all over the country, and it got stronger yesterday when the Fighting Irish offered Murrieta (Calif.) Valley star Bear Bachmeier.

Notre Dame quarterbacks coach Gino Guidugli visited the high school of Bachmeier back in May, coming away impressed with what the talented passer could bring to the table. Both sides continued to build a relationship since then, leading to the offer finally being extended.

For Bachmeier, this adds to the long list of outstanding programs that have offered him. Some of his notable scholarship offers include Alabama, Michigan, Oregon, Utah, Colorado, Stanford, Oregon State, Washington State and BYU among others.

Despite that attention, this offer from Notre Dame meant a lot. Not only to him, but to his entire family.

"I was so happy,” Bachmeier told Irish Breakdown. "I was actually at my Grandma's house in central California, a town called Lemoore. My grandpa was a die hard Fighting Irish fan. He passed away about 10 years ago, but to get the offer while I was there, it was truly special.”

Obviously Notre Dame holds a soft spot on Bachmeier’s heart, which matters. He also fully understands the sell of the program already.

"What stands out most is definitely the winning culture they have," Bachmeier noted. "They’re just so historically dominant, not only as a football program, but academically with the school as well.”

Even while Bachmeier was waiting on this offer, Coach Guidugli was busy building up their relationship. Needless to say, he has done a great job making him feel wanted so far.

"Coach Guidugli and I talk quite often,” he explained. "He’s such a genuine person and understands the quarterback position, both physically but also other factors, such as owning the locker room. He’s been trying to get me up to south bend for a while now, but just some situations down here I haven’t been able to make the trip.”

Luckily, Bachmeier has already seen the campus. He attended a trip with his older brother Tiger, who signed with Stanford as a wide receiver in the 2023 class. The talented signal caller has been very complimentary of that experience in the past but you can bet he will be making that trip back as soon as he can.

Overall, recruiting has been busy for Bachmeier. He is very thankful for the attention he has been given, including a few of the standout programs.

"Recruiting has really picked up this past spring, definitely fortunate for every opportunity I have been given,” said Bachmeier. "Some schools that interest me are, obviously Notre Dame, and then Alabama, Stanford, Michigan and Oregon.”

Bachmeier is well thought of from a recruiting ranking perspective. He currently sits as a consensus four-star on every major recruiting platform. On3 currently sees him the highest, pegged as the No.103 overall player and No. 9 quarterback in the 2025 recruiting class.

The 6-2, 205-pound signal caller was a dominant football player as a sophomore. As the team’s starting quarterback, Bachmeier threw for 2,853 yards and 26 touchdowns. He completed an absurd 73 percent of his passes and only threw four interceptions on the season.

As a runner, Bachmeier was equally as dangerous. He rushed for 644 and 18 touchdowns, doing so on just 47 carries. That is an insane 13.7 yards per carry.

Bachmeier comes from a football family. Aside from his brother Tiger, he is also the younger brother of former Boise State quarterback Hank Bachmeier.
