Pot Of Gold Recap: Notre Dame Offers Two Top Offensive Linemen In 2025 Recruiting Class

A look at the 2025 offensive lineman offered by Notre Dame during Pot of Gold

It was tradition under former offensive line Coach Harry Hiestand for Notre Dame to keep smaller offensive line boards on the recruiting side. Coach Hiestand was extremely thorough in his process and wouldn’t extend an offer until all criteria were met.

With Joe Rudolph taking over, it remains to be seen if he will implement a similar strategy. On Friday during the Pot of Gold offer event, the Irish staff extended offers to just two offensive lineman in the 2025 recruiting class.

Notre Dame is still expected to potentially add three more offensive lineman in the 2024 recruiting class to add to current Pennsylvania standout Peter Jones. So while there will be a ton of attention on 2024, the staff is also getting their eyes set on some elite talent in 2025.

THE NAMES TO KNOW

It is a very short list for Notre Dame right now so get well acquainted with both Charlotte (N.C.) Providence Day School five-star offensive tackle David Sanders Jr. and Beverly Hills (Mich.) Birmingham Groves standout Avery Gach. Both players bring the profile to last at offensive tackle on the next, each boasting notable upside for the position.

When you talk about Sanders, you are discussing a recruit who is considered the No. 1 overall recruit in the 2025 recruiting class by at least one of the major platforms. Quite honestly, he has the type of talent where he could be a consensus pick when it is all said and done.

At 6-6 and 255 pounds, Sanders has a frame that is more reminiscent of a tight end but has a clean frame to add great weight quickly. His movement skills are absurd, possessing the straight line speed, lateral quickness and comfort in space of a much smaller player. Sanders also has some easy core strength to finish a ton of defenders at the point of attack and create movement.

Quite simply, he’s special.

There is no question that Gach will get overshadowed in this conversation with Sanders but make no mistake about it, he has the talent to be a special one as well. He is slightly bigger right now at 6-5 and 275 plus pounds, which shows up tremendously with his power profile.

Gach plays with a nasty demeanor, routinely finishing defenders on the ground with nothing but bad intentions, and he will let you know about it. The Michigan native is also equally as impressive working in space in the run game, showing a good understanding for angles and finishing plays effectively.

Pass proposition is a bit of a question mark based on Gach’s film. It isn’t something that he is asked to do enough but with his combination of length, core strength and athleticism, it should be no issue on the next level.
