For the second time this off-season, talented 2025 safety  Ethan Long will be heading back to Notre Dame. The Milford (Conn.) Brunswick standout will be back for the recruiting cookout on July 30th. With a developing relationship with the Irish staff, it’s no surprise that it’s near the top of the list for what Long wants to experience.

"I'm most excited to see the coaches and players again,” Long told Irish Breakdown. "I want to keep building those relationships, which is great for me and I'm hoping to see a day in the life as a student athlete at Notre Dame.

"My relationship with the staff, especially Coach (Chris) O'Leary, are great,” he added. "Coach (Al) Golden is also great and I can't wait to make the relationship even better. They are both great and of course Coach (Marcus) Freeman.”

Long was initially offered by the staff following his performance at a camp a few weeks ago. Things have escalated quickly since then, and look to grow even further moving forward. There’s no question that the Connecticut athlete is high on the Irish.

"My opinion of Notre Dame so far is that they are great to me and really want me to be a part of their family,” explained Long. "The coach's message to me is that they see me playing the free safety spot and being able to control the field. They think I can be a premier part of their defense.”

Long has been active on the recruiting trail this off-season, visiting several schools and competing at camps. That has led to a flurry of offers being extended. Some of the notable programs who have offered include Notre Dame, Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, Michigan State, Maryland, Pittsburgh, Boston College and Duke among several others.

The 6-2, 185-pound defensive back was a main catalyst for an extremely talented 9-1 Brunswick squad. Long recorded three interceptions, recovered three fumbles and didn’t allow a single reception as a sophomore.
