Star Cornerback Devin Williams Can't Wait To Visit Notre Dame

Big time Georgia cornerback Devin Williams updates recruitment ahead of first trip to Notre Dame

Notre Dame continues to bring in some of the nation's best 2025 players for visits this summer, and one of the top defensive backs - Buford (Ga.) High School cornerback Devin Williams - is one of those players. The 5-10, 155-pound cover man will be making his first trip to Notre Dame this week. The Irish staff has done their best to make an impact on Williams so far.

So far their effort has been very well received. Getting Williams on campus is a major step for the Buford star.

"Since the day Notre Dame offered, I’ve felt like a priority for them,” Williams told Irish Breakdown. "I reach out to them and the conversations are not just fluff. They are very deliberate about their interest in me. They’ve been wanting me to come up there for a while and it’s finally here. I can’t wait to get there.

"I’ve enjoyed the few times I’ve talked to Notre Dame,” Williams continued. "They do a great job keeping in touch. We talk about more than just football. They check in to see how school is going and other general things going on with me.”

As they’ve remained consistent, the pitch to Williams has been just that. Notre Dame believes they are building something special and they want Williams to be a part of it.

"Their message has been simple: 'Come be a part of something great',” he explained. "Notre Dame stands out because of their tradition and the great players who have worn the jersey. They’re on NBC every week so I’ve watched them play often.”

As you could imagine, the demand for Williams is high. This will be a battle for the Irish staff, but one they are not shying away from. They hope that the upcoming visit can go a long way to making a deeper impact.

"Recruiting has been busy,” said Williams. "I have done a few visits and camps this spring so far. July is right around the corner, so now it’s time to lock in and prepare for my junior season. My last visits will be Notre Dame on June 22nd and Michigan on June 23rd. I’ll also get to a few on campus games this fall.

"Alabama, Tennessee, and Auburn have been in touch recently and those relationships have really grown,” Williams added. "They were all very impressed with my workouts at their schools. I also had a good workout at Georgia and spoke with Ohio State and Florida State when they came down during the spring.”

Williams is considered a consensus four-star and top 100 recruit by every major recruiting platform. He ranks currently as the No. 60 overall player and No. 6 cornerback in the 2025 recruiting class according to the On3 Industry ranking. That also has him pegged as the No. 11 player from the state of Georgia, a state that puts out a silly amount of talent each year.

The Georgia cornerback is being pursued by some of the top programs in all of college football. Some of his notable offers include Notre Dame, Georgia, Alabama, Ohio State, Michigan, Tennessee, Florida State, Penn State, Texas, Florida, Auburn, Texas A&M, Arkansas, NC State, Colorado, South Carolina, Mississippi State, Michigan State, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, Duke and Georgia Tech among others.

Williams is also a standout track and field athlete for the school’s team. As a sophomore, he posted personal bests of 10.65 seconds in the 100 meter dash and 21.4 seconds in the 200. That speed and explosiveness translates over to the football field in a big way.
