Notre Dame Still Pushing For Georgia Tight End Ryan Ghea
After the Pot of Gold offer event a couple of months ago, Notre Dame began trending in a great direction with 2025 Alpharetta (Ga.) Milton tight end Ryan Ghea, who is one of the better tight ends in the class. The Irish program was so appealing that Ghea and his family made the trip back to back weekends in late March and early April.
It was hard not to feel great about where Notre Dame was with the Georgia standout. Obviously things changed a lot a couple weeks ago when Star Oklahoma tight end Nate Roberts committed to the University of Notre Dame.
There were some questions whether the program would take two tight ends in the 2024 class, which didn’t happen when Carter Nelson opted for the Nebraska Cornhuskers this week. Now the staff has definite intentions of taking a second tight end in the 2025 recruiting class and Ghea has been made very aware of that.
"My Notre Dame relationship is still progressing,” Ghea told Irish Breakdown. "I know they are taking two tight ends so they are still on my list but want to keep exploring.
"(Notre Dame) wants me still,” he added. "We continue to talk and build relationships. My junior season is very important to see how my relationships build.”
Clearly Notre Dame still has interest in Ghea, which they’ve made very apparent. The services of Ghea aren’t not going to be an easy thing. He has a variety of great programs who are courting him currently.
"Recruiting has been going really well,” Ghea said. "I received my 39th offer and have a lot of great connections with many coaches. Coaches I’ve stayed in contact with a lot are Miami, Michigan, Penn State, North Carolina, Clemson, Wisconsin, Stanford, Auburn and Ohio State.”
With the want to take a second tight end in 2025, Ghea is a name to keep a close eye on. It won’t be an easy pull with Roberts already in the class but there is little question that Ghea has a high opinion of the Irish program.
Ghea has already garnered interest from several big time programs so far. Some of his notable offers so far include Notre Dame, Ohio State, Michigan, Florida State, Penn State, Tennessee, South Carolina, Auburn, Wisconsin, Ole Miss, Colorado, Kentucky, North Carolina, NC State, Virginia Tech, Missouri, Louisville, Duke, Georgia Tech, Vanderbilt, Kansas and Indiana among others.
Ghea is ranked as a four-star recruit by both 247Sports and Rivals. 247Sports has the Milton star ranked as the No. 154 overall player and No. 8 ranked tight end in the 2025 recruiting class. He is also considered the No. 21 overall player in the state of Georgia, a territory that has a long history of producing some top level talent.
The 6-5, 240-pound tight end was utilized most as a dominant blocker for Milton as a sophomore. Whether inline or split out, Ghea routinely made his impact felt in that department. In the passing game, he hauled in 11 receptions for 177 yards and one touchdown. That is an average of 16.1 yards per reception.
