Notre Dame Gives Dynamic Pass Catcher Talyn Taylor Another Great Experience
Since 2024 Geneva (Ill.) Community pass catcher Talyn Taylor was offered back in St. Patrick’s Day, he became almost immediately a priority recruit for Notre Dame. The staff has worked hard to sell the vision, while also getting him back to campus multiple times.
On Saturday, Taylor returned to South Bend for Notre Dame’s matchup against Ohio State. That was his third trip since being offered, this time offering a unique experience of a game day.
According to Taylor’s mother, Venus Taylor, this most recent visit continued to impress their family. All the coaches really have made them feel like family.
"It was a great visit and the atmosphere was electric,” Taylor told Irish Breakdown. "It was a really hard fought game on both sides as well. We are impressed every time we go back.
"The coaches are always great to us,” she continued. "It was game day so we don’t get a lot of time with them which is understandable but they are always top notch every time we are there.”
The Taylor family already knows that this is going to be a difficult decision in the end. There are a long list of impressive schools that have already made the talented wide receiver a priority.
As of now, the plan is still make a decision after official visits this offseason. Notre Dame promises to be in this one until the end, although they must keep putting in high effort. No matter what the final decision, the Taylor family trusts Talyn to make the decision best for him.
"Talyn has an incredible personality and gets along with everyone,” she explained. "He has visited multiple times because he likes the coaches and the recruits. I have no question that he will be able to fit in at whatever school he chooses.
"It is going to be a hard decision no matter what,” Taylor added. "Talyn is trying to find the best place for him long term. I have all the confidence in him.”
Taylor is currently rated as a four-star recruit and the No. 32 overall player and No. 7 wide receiver in the 2025 recruiting class according to Rivals. He is considered a consensus four-star recruit by every major recruiting platform. On3 also has him as a top 100 national recruit, currently sitting as the No. 63 overall player in the class.
The 6-1, 175-pound pass catcher is putting together a stellar offer list. Some of the notable programs to offer Taylor include Alabama, Georgia, Michigan, USC, Tennessee, Miami (Fla.), UCLA, Wisconsin, Utah, Nebraska, Michigan State, Iowa, Kansas State, Illinois, Louisville, Purdue, Kansas, Minnesota and Syracuse among others.
The Illinois standout is coming off of a dynamic sophomore campaign for Geneva County. He led the squad with 45 receptions for 801 yards and eight touchdowns in nine games. Taylor was also the teams main kick and punt returner, averaging 11.5 yards per punt return on the season.
Taylor has been even more dominant as a junior thus far. Through four games, he has hauled in 26 receptions for 472 yards and six touchdowns. He is also the team’s main kick and punt returner, although the opposition do their best to avoid him. Taylor has also added an interception on the defensive side of the football this season.
