Notre Dame Pushing Hard For Running Back Daniel Anderson Heading Into Ohio State Visit
Notre Dame landed an early commitment at running back in the 2025 class from Tampa Bay speedster Justin Thurman. The Irish staff intends to pair Thurman with another talented runner, with Bryant (Ark.) High School star Daniel Anderson being a big name to know.
After camping at Notre Dame this off-season, and returning again in July, Anderson is set for another visit this weekend against Ohio State. Over the last few months, the Arkansas native has begun to gain a lot more traction on the recruiting trail. That includes Notre Dame, which offered him after that first visit.
"Recruiting has really picked up,” Anderson told Irish Breakdown. "Going on game day visits has been eye-opening. It's allowed me to see how programs operate on a more personal level. The same schools that offered me this summer have attempted to keep in contact and develop a relationship with me and the family.
"With the Notre Dame coaches, they continue to be genuine and have honest conversations,” he added. "They have been in contact more with my parents. It has strengthened the relationship for sure.”
This will be Anderson’s first game day in South Bend. That offers a unique opportunity to really visualize what it would be like to be a Notre Dame football player.
"This upcoming trip will be exciting because I'll get to meet some new recruits in my class,” said Anderson. "I’ll also experience Notre Dame at an actual game with another undefeated opponent will be the ultimate game experience.”
When talking timelines, there is nothing firm for Anderson. When he knows, he will know.
"Really there's no ideal time frame to make a decision,” he explained. "I'm going to do like my mother said and follow my gut when the time is right.”
Whether a decision happens sooner or later, Notre Dame promises to be in it until the end. They are currently the leader for the talented runner and hope to continue that momentum this weekend.
Anderson is coming off of a highly productive sophomore season, sitting as a huge reason why Bryant was able to capture their fifth straight state championship. He finished with 856 yards rushing and 11 touchdowns on just 74 carries, including an impressive 11.6 yards per carry average.
The talented runner was also a weapon in the passing game. Anderson exploded for 246 yards and three touchdowns on just nine receptions. That was good enough for a 27.3 yards per reception average.
In three games as a junior so far, Anderson has rushed for 136 yards and one touchdown. He has also hauled in two receptions for 14 yards through the air.
The 5-11, 190-pound athlete has been gaining substantial interest on the recruiting trail recently. Anderson has been extended offers from the Fighting Irish, Tennessee, Colorado and Mississippi State among others.
From a recruiting ranking perspective, Anderson is considered a four-star recruit according to Rivals. The Arkansas native is currently pegged as the No. 171 overall player and No. 15 running back in the 2025 recruiting class.
