One of the few remaining 2024 players on the board for Notre Dame is West Chester (Ohio) Lakota West safety Taebron Bennie-Powell, and he's ready to make his college commitment know.

Bennie-Powell earned an offer from Notre Dame last week, and today he announced he plans to make a commitment know on Wednesday, June 21st.

Bennie-Powell attended a Notre Dame evaluation camp on Thursday, June 15st. He worked out for the Fighting Irish coaches, and hours following the event he was offered a scholarship by the Notre Dame staff. At that moment Notre Dame became a top contender for the Ohio safety.

The 6-1, 170-pound defensive back was a high school teammate of current Notre Dame freshman Ben Minich. As a junior Bennie-Powell played essentially a linebacker role on the Lakota West defense due to the presence of Minich and Ohio State signee Malik Hartford at safety. As a senior, Bennie-Powell plans to move to safety, where he'll get a chance to adapt his game and develop the technique needed to thrive at the position.

Bennie-Powell has earned offers from the Fighting Irish, Duke, Kentucky, Pittsburgh and West Virginia. He also earned several MAC offers. He is ranked as a consensus three-star recruit across the major platforms, and he earned a 3.0-star grade on the Irish Breakdown board, although he did earn a 4.0-star upside grade.

Notre Dame currently has one safety committed in the class, with Arizona standout Kennedy Urlacher committing to the Irish on May 1st. Notre Dame is hoping to land big-time in-state safety Brauntae Johnson, who is scheduled to make his college commitment known on Saturday, June 24th. Three is the minimum safety number for the Irish in the 2024 class.
