Quarterback Deuce Knight Is Aiming For The Best Recruiting Class In Notre Dame History

Elite 2025 quarterback Deuce Knight talks about his role as a recruiter and leader of the Notre Dame class

Since committing to Notre Dame on September 18th, 2025 Lucedale (Miss.) George County star quarterback Deuce Knight has become a beacon of hope for the future of Notre Dame football. His talent level speaks for itself, bringing a tremendous skill set to the table.

As a quarterback, Knight is also going to be depended on tremendously as a leader of the team once he gets on campus. That leadership does not just start there. Knight has quickly also become the leader of the Irish 2025 class, which he has high expectations for.

"It’s really great and important to me to be the leader of the class,” Knight told Irish Breakdown. "I talk about it with the staff all the time. We want this to be one of, if not the best, recruiting class in the history of Notre Dame.

"We want to continue to build this class and bring in great players and people,” he continued. "There’s always one goal in mind, bring a national championship back to Notre Dame. That’s what we are pushing for.”

Anytime a big time quarterback from the Southeast commits to a Northern school, the natural question as to whether the staff can hold onto them is going to arise. Knight appears completely locked into his commitment to the Irish. A big reason for that, the staff has continued to make him feel like a valued member of the family.

"It’s been exactly the same, great relationships with everyone,” he explained. "Things are always good. They show me a lot of love. They wanted to make sure that when I committed that I knew things weren’t going to change. They are still the same people, reach out constantly and make me feel like a part of the family.”

Knight is also heading back to Notre Dame this weekend for their battle against Wake Forest. When he looks back on his decision making process, there are zero regrets. Knight is exactly where he should be.

"Looking back on the decision, I couldn’t be more excited about it,” said Knight. "It’s something that I had been wanting to do for a while. Notre Dame is a special place. I was just telling someone the other day that I feel like it’s the best overall place for me. There’s nothing they can’t provide me to reach all of my goals.”

When Knight returned to George County, he proceeded to play at a very high level. In seven games with the team, he threw for 1,420 yards and 15 touchdowns. Knight also rushed for 340 yards and eight touchdowns on the ground. In total, he accounted for 23 total touchdowns and only three interceptions in seven games.

The 6-5, 185-pound signal caller is well liked from a ranking perspective. Every major recruiting platform has Knight rated as a four-star player. Both On3 and Rivals have him pegged the highest, sitting as the No. 29 and No. 25 overall player respectively.
