Notre Dame hosted and worked out a number of talented 2025 players in June, and one prospect that shined at camp was Milford (Conn.) Brunswick School safety Ethan Long. The Connecticut native was a very well known prospect coming into the event, already holding an offer from Notre Dame.

This event, along with a chance to check out campus, was a great opportunity for Long to get around the Irish coaches and see the campus first hand. It started with the camp, where Long performed well.

"The overall experience at the camp was great,” Long told Irish Breakdown. "I love competing and getting on the field. It’s incredible to do what I love.

"Working with Coach (Chris) O’Leary and Coach (Marcus) Freeman was great,” Long continued. "I learned so much that improved my game tremendously.”

When Long wasn’t competing, he had the chance for him and his family to really explore the Notre Dame campus and program. The Connecticut star had a lot of his questions answered thoroughly.

"My visit was awesome,” he explained. "My tour guide, Caleb (Davis), was the best and gave me one of the best visits overall. He was so knowledgeable and was able to answer all of my questions.”

As for Notre Dame’s pitch, they see a lot of a certain former Irish staff in Long’s game. That comparison was something that Long didn’t take lightly.

"The staff compared me to Kyle Hamilton,” Long said. "They said I look, talk and play a lot like him. That was massive to me because they developed him into an All American safety and a first round pick. That’s a goal of mine so that really hit me.”

Notre Dame is putting themselves in a great position so far with Long. He has the talent to become a difference maker in South Bend in the future.

Long has been active on the recruiting trail this off-season, visiting several schools and competing at camps. That has led to a flurry of offers being extended. Some of the notable programs who have offered include Notre Dame, Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State, Maryland, Pittsburgh, Boston College and Duke among several others.

The 6-2, 185-pound defensive back was a main catalyst for an extremely talented 9-1 Brunswick squad. Long recorded three interceptions, recovered three fumbles and didn’t allow a single reception as a sophomore.
