The month of June is going to go a long way for Notre Dame to really cement their 2024 recruiting class, including gaining clarity at several positions. Arguably the most important visitor this month is Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco linebacker Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa, who is one of the top defenders in the nation.

Viliamu-Asa had already centered his focus coming into the month. His final three schools included Notre Dame, Ohio State and USC. The California star is fresh off of his official visit to USC two weekends ago and has Ohio State coming up this weekend as well.

This past weekend was spent in South Bend, a place Viliamu-Asa had visited twice before. This trip, although important for the talented defender, was more for his family. They were making their first trip to campus.

"It was big for me to get my family on campus to see everything,” Viliamu-Asa said. "I wanted to get their opinions on everything. They really loved it. It’s a place where they could see me thriving.”

His mother was especially a person that this trip was big for. While ultimately this will be Viliamu-Asa’s decision, getting his family’s perspective is extremely important. His support system means a lot to him.

Overall, Notre Dame put their best foot forward on this most recent trip. There is no questioning just how much of a priority that Viliamu-Asa is for them.

"I love the Notre Dame staff,” he explained. "They have been so consistent and authentic in my recruitment. They’re great people and they really want what’s best for me.

"This trip was great to be able to see everyone again and continue to develop those relationships,” Viliamu-Asa added. "From Coach (Marcus) Freeman, (Al) Golden, (Al) Washington, (Max) Bullough and Chad (Bowden), they have all made me feel like a part of the family. I could definitely see myself being a big part of the program.”

There wasn’t a new pitch on this visit. The Irish staff has remained super consistent with their approach. It’s one of the things that Viliamu-Asa has loved so much.

"They have consistently stressed to me how I would thrive with the program,” Viliamu-Asa stated. "As a football player, person and student, it’s a great fit. They made sure to reiterate that.”

With only one official visit remaining, things are going to wind down quickly for Viliamu-Asa. Going into the visit, Notre Dame was battling for pole position with Ohio State. Leaving the visit, they appear to be the team to beat.

The California native put together a dynamic junior campaign for the 13-1 St. John Bosco team. He finished the season with 111 total tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks despite missing one game. Viliamu-Asa also recorded an interception, one forced fumble, two fumble recoveries and a pass breakup.

Viliamu-Asa is considered a four-star recruit by every major recruiting platform. He ranks highest on the Rivals ranking, currently sitting as the No. 35 overall player and No. 3 linebacker in the 2024 recruiting class. 247Sports sees the California star similarly, pegging him as the No. 89 overall player and No. 9 linebacker in the class.
