Chris Holtmann Says Ohio State's 'Story is Far from Over'
The Ohio State Buckeyes extended their recent losing streak on Monday, falling 73-65 in a road contest with the Michigan Wolverines.
With the Buckeyes now having dropped each of their last three games, the mood among fans is at one of the lowest points of the season. However, coach Chris Holtmann advised the media (and fans) to be patient, saying his team would be back to its winning ways soon.
"Listen, you guys will see it," Holtmann said. "You guys, obviously, can write about a three-game losing streak right now. But our story is far from over. You'll see what this group can how into. Not many people are gonna feel that right now, bit I certainly do. I know our staff does. And I know a lot of the guys in the locker room do."
Ohio State defended its home court on January 3 against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, but have lost every game since then. This downward trend includes Monday's decision against the Wolverines, as well as bouts with the Indiana Hoosiers and then-No. 15 Wisconsin Badgers.
Buckeyes captain and leading scorer Bruce Thornton was optimistic following the loss at Michigan. The sophomore guard reminded reporters there is still a lot more conference basketball left to be played this season.
"We're just two teams competing at the end of the day, and we fell short today," Thornton said. "Even though we lost, we've gotta keep our heads up high. We've got 14 more Big Ten games."
Ohio State is back in action on Saturday, hosting the Penn State Nittany Lions at Value City Arena. Tip-off for the Buckeyes' seventh Big Ten game of the year is scheduled for noon on the Big Ten Network.
