Cotie McMahon, No. 13 Ohio State Buckeyes Stomp Boston College Eagles 88-66
The No. 13 Ohio State Buckeyes improved to 2-1 on Thursday, defeating the Boston College Eagles 00-00 at the Schottenstein Center in Columbus, Ohio.
Three Buckeyes players finished with points in double figures against the Eagles: sophomore forward Cotie McMahon (24), junior forward Taylor Thierry (18) and graduate guard Jacy Sheldon (16).
Ohio State outscored Boston College in all but one of the game's four quarters in one of their most impressive offensive showcases of the young season. The Buckeyes shot 50 percent or higher as a team from both the floor (61.4 percent on 35-of-57) and beyond the arc (50 on 6-of-12).
The Buckeyes led the Eagles in several statistical categories, including bench points (24 to 18), points off turnovers (30 to 21), and points in the paint (58 to 32). A big fourth quarter from Boston College allowed them to come from behind and retake leads in some important categories such as fastbreak points (12 to 10) and total rebounds (32 to 29).
Ohio State has now scored 70 points or more in each of its three games this season, including 74 against the USC Trojans and 108 against the IUPUI Jaguars. The Buckeyes will look to keep that streak going through the rest of their games this season.
Next up on the schedule for the No. 13 Ohio State Buckeyes is a trip down to the Bahamas for the Pink Flamingo Championship. Tournament action for the Buckeyes begins at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, November 20 against the East Carolina Pirates.
