The Ohio State Buckeyes have concluded the regular season, but not in the way they wanted.

In a top-ten battle Sunday afternoon, the No. 2 Buckeyes fell to the No. 6 Iowa Hawkeyes 93-83 on the road in Iowa City. Ohio State trailed the Hawkeyes by nine points at the half, a margin which they could not overcome in the remaining time.

Each of Ohio State's five starters recorded double-digit points in the game, led by 24 from graduate guard Jacy Sheldon. Sunday's contest against the Hawkeyes was the 13th this season in which Sheldon has scored 20 points or more.

Senior forward Rebekka Mikulasikova was just behind Sheldon with 14 points, most of which came off of her four-of-eight performance shooting from behind the three-point line. Mikulasikova was also the leading rebounder for Ohio State, pulling down eight boards (seven of which were defensive).

Hawkeyes senior guard and projected No. 1-overall pick in the upcoming 2024 WNBA Draft Caitlyn Clark became the NCAA's all-time scoring leader during the win. Clark netted two free-throws late in the first half, passing Pete Marovich's record and entering the 2024 postseasonwith 3,685 career points.

Ohio State's defeat snapped a 15-game winning streak, but was just their fourth loss of the season. The Buckeyes split the series with the Hawkeyes as well, having bested the Yellow and Black 100-92 in overtime back on January 21.

With the regular season now in their rear-view mirror, the Buckeyes will turn their attention to the 2024 Big Ten Women's Basketball Tournament. Ohio State will open the conference event on Friday, March 8 at 12:30 p.m. against a to-be-determined opponent.
