Ex Ohio State Target Bronny James Suffers Cardiac Arrest
USC Trojans commit and former Ohio State Buckeyes 2023 recruiting target Bronny James suffered cardiac arrest during practice on Monday, per reports from Shams Charania of The Athletic and a statement from James' representatives.
James, the son of NBA star LeBron James, was taken to the hospital for treatment but is in stable condition and no longer in the ICU.
"Yesterday while practicing, Bronny James suffered a cardiac arrest," the statement said. "Medical staff was able to treat Bronny and take him to the hospital."
After a long recruiting process that saw him cut his final three choices to the Orgeon Ducks, Trojans or Buckeyes, James committed to USC on May 6. As of now, there is no update on whether or not this medical scare will impact his availability on the court this upcoming season.
"We ask for respect and privacy for the James family and we will update media when there is more information," the statement continued. "LeBron and Savannah wish to publicly send their deepest thanks and appreciation to the USC medical and athletic staff for their incredible work and dedication to the safety of their athletes."
James took an unofficial visit to Ohio State in September of last year. Now as one of the main faces of an exciting Trojans team, he'll look to continue his recover ahead of his freshman season at USC.
