FINAL: Ohio State Buckeyes Fall to No. 15 Texas A&M Aggies

Bruce Thornton's 24 points weren't enough to push the Ohio State Buckeyes past the Texas A&M Aggies, dropping them to 1-1 on the year.

The Ohio State Buckeyes came up short Friday night against the No. 15 Texas A&M Aggies 73-66 at the Schottenstein Center.

The Buckeyes trailed the Aggies 34-33 going into the locker room at halftime, but found their way back in front through the game's final few minutes.

Sophomore guard Bruce Thornton finished as Ohio State's leading scorer with 24 points, followed by fifth-year forward Jamison Battle with 10 points and sophomore guard Roddy Gayle Jr. with nine points. Gayle was the Buckeyes' leading rebounder, securing seven boards during the 40 minutes of action.

Junior guard Wade Taylor IV and graduate guard Tyrece Radford led the scoring for Texas A&M with 21 points each. Senior forward Henry Coleman III was third on the team with 20 points, alongside 11 rebounds and two assists.

Ohio State outperformed Texas A&M in 3-point field goal percentage (21-17), bench points (14-7) and total assists (11-8). The Aggies got the better of the Buckeyes in free-throw percentage (70-59), second-chance points (19-9) and rebounds (45-35).

The Buckeyes are now 1-3 all-time against the Aggies in a series that dates back to 1947. Additionally, Ohio State falls to 111-202 against teams ranked among the best 15 in the country, and remain winless against such teams since Feb. 24, 2022 (86-86 win at No. 15 Illinois).

Ohio State's wrap up its three-game, season-opening homestand this Wednesday, Nov. 15 against the Merrimack College Warriors. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m., with live coverage of the contest airing on Big Ten Network.
