Ohio State Buckeyes Men's, Women's Basketball Release Trailers Ahead of Season-Opening Games
The Ohio State Buckeyes men's and women's basketball teams released trailers on social media ahead of their season-opening games this week.
Both Buckeyes squads tip off their years on Monday, with the women's squad on the road and the men's team at home.
Ohio State men's hoops had a disappointing record at the end of last season. However, additions from the transfer portal and some off-season weight transformations (for coach Chris Holtmann and his players) have the Buckeyes ready to roll ahead of their 125th season in program history.
Ohio State is 105-17 all-time when opening their season at home. The Buckeyes are 6-0 in openers under the direction of Holtmann and have not dropped a campaign-starter in the last 19 seasons.
On the other side, the women's team had a tremendous year in 2022. The Buckeyes finished 28-8 overall and qualified for the NCAA Women's Elite Eight for the first time in 30 years.
The Buckeyes brought back graduate guard Jacy Sheldon (who spent most of last season sidelined with injuries), sophomore forward Cotie McMahon, and center Rebeka Mikulasikova.Β
One key addition coach Kevin McGuff made to his already impressive roster was guard Celeste Taylor, who came to Ohio State from Duke through the transfer portal.
The No. 7 Ohio State women's basketballΒ team begins the day with a road contest on the West Coast against the No. 21 USC Trojans. Coverage of the Buckeyes' game against their future Big Ten-opponent will air live on truTV, beginning at 2 p.m. eastern time.
The Buckeyes men's team concludes the day, hosting the Oakland Golden Grizzlies at 7 p.m. on Big Ten Plus from the Schottenstein Center. Ohio State students can get in free by presenting a valid BuckID when they enter through the "Nuthouse" entrance.
