The Buckeyes defeated the Nebraska Cornhuskers 78-69 at Value City Arena Thursday night, earning their second consecutive victory. Ohio State previously broke its 17-game losing streak on the road with a buzzer beater against the Michigan State Spartans on Sunday.

Senior forward Jamison Battle led the Buckeyes in the points department with a season-high 32 points on nine-of-18 shooting from the floor. Following the Minnesota Golden Gophers transfer on the box score was sophomore guard Roddy Gayle Jr. with 16 points and freshman forward Devin Royal with 13 points in his second-largest contribution of the year.

Ohio State out-shot Nebraska from both the field (43 percent to 39 percent) and beyond the three-point line (38 percent to 30 percent) over the course of the game. The Buckeyes hauled in more total rebounds than the Cornhuskers (43 to 33) and drew more penalties against their opponents (21 to nine).

The Buckeyes’ triumph over the Cornhuskers was their third win over the last four games since the firing of former head coach Chris Holtmann. Ohio State’s streak started with an upset of the No. 2 Purdue Boilermakers back on Sunday, February 18 in Jake Diebler’s first game as interim head coach.

Ohio State is back to work this Sunday, March 3 at Value City Arena against the Michigan Wolverines. Tip-off for the game (which will serve as Senior Day for the Buckeyes) is scheduled for 4 p.m., with live coverage airing on CBS.
