Ohio State Is Set At Center For Now, Future Questions Remain
All is good in the world of the center position for Ohio State at the moment, thanks to the late add of Ibrahima Diallo in the 2019 cycle.
It’s been months since then, and Diallo has been on campus for a bit now. The freshman is settled in, and learning his team and building chemistry.
Kaleb Wesson will be the staple of this team, as he was last year. Ohio State needed some big man depth, after the transfer of Jaedon LeDee - and have received that with the addition of Ibrahima Diallo.
Diallo was a late bloomer from powerhouse program Prolific Prep. A three star prospect according to 247 sports, but an underrated one at that. A prospect with his best basketball ahead of him, without a doubt. Diallo also held offers from Florida State and Pittsburgh.
Diallo stands at about seven feet tall, and will make an instant impact on the defensive side. Offensive game will take a bit, but may work well as a cleanup guy. Developing a back to the basket style of game could give him a huge boost.
Ohio State will look to take a center in the 2020 class, if the opportunity presents it’s self. Which, presuming they will with a possible Kaleb Wesson departure after the season - for professional opportunities.
There will be times where Ohio State will go small with neither on the court, and that could benefit the team. But, if it’s anything like last year - the Buckeyes will need Wesson out there a ton. Coach Holtmann and staff are hoping the junior can better stay out of foul trouble, for sure.
