Ohio State Women's Basketball Makes History in Big 10 Tournament

The Buckeyes trailed top-seeded Indiana by 24 points at the half, but came back to beat the Hoosiers, 79-75.

The Ohio State Buckeyes women's basketball team made history on Saturday when they completed the largest comeback in the history of the Big 10 Tournament to defeat No. 1-seed Indiana.

The No. 4-seed Buckeyes trailed the Hoosiers by 24 points, 46-22, with 1:12 remaining in the second quarter in a game that seemed over right then and there. Ohio State was able to cut the lead down to 20 entering the break, heading back to the locker room down, 46-26.

When they left the dressing room after the intermission, Ohio State looked like an entirely different team. The Buckeyes outscored Indiana in each of the last two quarters, 27-17 and 26-12 respectively.

Ohio State's leading scorer was sophomore forward Taylor Thierry with 19, falling one shy of tying Indiana's Grace Berger for the most in the game. Thierry also hauled in 12 rebounds for the Buckeyes, giving her a double-double in the box score.

Senior guard Jacy Sheldon, playing in only her eighth game of the season after battling injuries for most of that time, secured the win when she buried a free throw with four seconds left to give the Buckeyes a two-possession lead.

Sheldon finished the game with 12 points and a perfect 4-for-4 clip from the charity stripe.

Ohio State advances to the Big Ten Championship, which will tip off Sunday at 4 p.m. central (5 p.m. eastern) on Big Ten Network.

The Buckeyes will take on the winner of the other semifinal game between No. 2 Iowa and No. 3 Maryland, which has yet to be decided.
