Texans to Host Ohio State Star QB C.J. Stroud For Top-30 NFL Draft Visit
It has yet to be determined exactly where Ohio State Buckeyes star quarterback C.J. Stroud will land in April's 2023 NFL Draft.
However, one thing we do know, is that it is likely to happen somewhere in the first few picks.
And another thing we know is that the Houston Texans are big fans of the former Buckey, and are now set to host Stroud for a top-30 NFL Draft visit on Wednesday, according to reports.
Stroud and the Texans already have a pre-existing relationship, thanks to the meetings held at the NFL Combine.
Meetings that Stroud himself believes he performed very well in and hoped to build on going forward.
"I’m looking forward to going deeper and deeper and building a relationship with them," Stroud said at the combine. "They asked me some questions, and I feel like I did really well in the interview process with them. I got to meet everybody in their front office and had a great conversation."
However, even at No. 2 overall, Stroud might not be on the board when Houston is on the clock.
In recent weeks, Stroud has been largely projected to go No. 1 overall to the Carolina Panthers, who traded for the selection with the Chicago Bears on March 10.
As a result, most mock drafts have favored the Texans selecting Alabama's Bryce Young instead.
Even still, considering that every team has a finite amount of top-30 visits, the fact that the Texans are still inviting Stroud to Houston to use one of those spots would seem to indicate that - at the very least - it is far from a certainty that the Panthers will select the two-time Heisman finalist with the first pick.
Either way, the Texans should have the opportunity to land a premium prospect at the quarterback position.
Suffice it to say, it is becoming harder and harder to see Stroud slipping below even the top-two picks this April.
