WATCH: Former Ohio State QB C.J. Stroud Throwing At First Texans Practice

Former Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud was the highest-ever selected Buckeyes signal-caller with the No. 2 overall pick to the Houston Texans in the 2023 NFL Draft.

All good things must come to an end, and former Ohio State Buckeyes quarterback C.J. Stroud's historic college tenure — as weird as it may seem — is officially over.

Like after Tom Brady signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in March 2020, it was hard to imagine him wearing something other than a New England Patriots jersey until he sported it week 1 in a 34-23 loss to the New Orleans Saints. The same goes for Stroud who traded in his scarlet and gray No. 7 for the same number in for the Houston Texans' deep steel blue, liberty white and battle red.

Stroud was out throwing at the first day of Texans rookie minicamp Friday after being selected with the second-overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.

The Buckeyes starter of the past two seasons went to Texans executives and asked the organization to draft former Houston Cougars wide receiver Nathaniel "Tank" Dell.

The two were seen forming an early pitch-and-catch connection on a quick out route Friday. Texans fans are excited about the potential for a No. 7 to a No. 13 connection due to the play-on-words potential of one of the four Houston metropolitan area codes: 713.

Stroud has yet to sign his rookie contract with Houston, and though it is likely he will win the quarterback battle, he will compete with veterans Davis Mills and Case Keenum for the week 1 starting job.
