The Ohio State Buckeyes lost a big commitment from Jordan Lyle on Monday night.

The Ohio State Buckeyes have been on a roll on the recruiting trail during the 2024 cycle, currently sitting with the No. 1 class in the country per Rivals.com and the No. 2 class per On3.

However, that class took a hit on Monday night, with four-star running back Jordan Lyle de-committing from the program. He had been committed to the program since April.

Lyle, the No. 2 ranked running back in the nation per On3, had been being courted by Miami for some time now, and at the end, the family feeling is what won out.

“What stood out about Miami is that they treated my family extremely well and that plays a big factor in my decision," Lyle told On3. "Also the weather in Miami is something I’m accustomed to. Ohio State is a great program and coach Alford is an outstanding person and coach but those two things are what weighed Miami over Ohio State.”

Lyle also was very comfortable with the Miami coaching staff and the way they plan on using him.

“I’m closest with Coach Harris, Coach Hyppolite, and Coach Cristobal," Lyle said in the interview with On3. "They plan on using me as an every-down back. My relationship with the coaching staff is great. Everyone treats me like family.”

This loss will undoubtedly threaten the Buckeyes' top spot in the class rankings and is a major hit to their running back future.

He also might not be the only loss, with other programs still heavy after Jeremiah Smith and Eddrick Houston, the two top players in the class.

As of now, however, both players seem to be solid with the Buckeyes for now.
