Ohio StateOG Donovan Jackson Will Return for 2024 Season
The Ohio State Buckeyes have retained an important piece of their offensive line.
Rising senior guard Donovan Jackson announced on Wednesday he would be returning to the Buckeyes for the 2024 season with a video on social media.
Jackson has spent the past three seasons with Ohio State going back to 2021. The Bellaire, Texas native has started in each of the Buckeyes' last 26 games, including the 2022 Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl and 2023 Goodyear Cotton Bowl.
Jackson's performance on the offensive line has not gone unnoticed by national scouts and committees. The former five-star prospect has been given All-Big Ten honors in each of the past two seasons, earning second-team in 2022 before being named first-team by both the conference's coaches and media members.
Ohio State will be looking to fill several positions on the offensive line this coming season. Center Jakob James announced his transfer to Toledo back in December, while the Buckeyes' other guard Matt Jones used up the last of his college eligibility in 2023.
Some of the names to which the Buckeyes will look to place alongside of Jackson are freshman Austin Siereveld, fifth-year senior Enokk Vimahi and sophomore Tegra Tshabola.
During the final player media availability of 2023, senior tackle Josh Fryar was asked his advice for the players deciding whether or not to return for another year, especially those earlier in their careers. Fryar responded by saying they should "be patient" and stick with the program, adding the knowledge and network they would receive at Ohio State was well worth the wait.
One can only wonder if those words, which Jackson was in the building to hear, played a role in the decision of any Buckeye (lineman or otherwise) to dive back into the Scarlet and Gray pool for another season.
