Buckeyes Win The Justin Fields For Martell Sweepstakes, It Seems

Ohio State received a transfer from Justin Fields, and Martell went to Miami in the wake. Looks like the transfer in from Georgia has landed in the better spot, in short term visual.

News broke today that former Ohio State QB and current Miami Hurricane Tate Martell will start the season as a backup for the Canes.

Transferring from Ohio State to Miami, Tate obviously felt good about starting, which isn’t happening at least yet. Miami Head Coach Diaz named the talented freshman Jarren Williams the week one starter.

The Buckeyes and their coaches have to feel good after getting Justin Fields this past spring, and him becoming immediately eligible. Fields was a transfer from Georgia as we all know, who is expected to be the Buckeyes quarterback for the next couple years, at least.

At this point, you hate to see it happen to Martell. A young adult that just wanted to see the field, in which he’s 0/2 now with schools and starting immediately.

Rumored to have an up and down spring and early fall, Martell was just never able to separate himself. The athleticism is there along with speed and agility. The arm talent and accuracy has always been a major question, for the Hurricane.

This obviously isn’t end to all for Martell, as anything can happen. Rather than transferring again, you hope to see Martell put his head down, and work and improve his game. Miami could have packages so Martell will see the field, but that isn’t a guarantee. It didn’t work well at OSU, and it may not in South Florida.

It will now just be a waiting game, to see what’s next with Martell.
