Ohio State OL Dawand Jones Signs Rookie Contract with Cleveland Browns
Former Ohio State offensive lineman Dawand Jones is officially a member of the Cleveland Browns after he signed his rookie contract on Monday.
Jones was selected by the Browns, along with a handful of his Buckeyes teammates in the fourth round with the 111th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
The Indianapolis, Indiana-native was featured in 41 games with the Buckeyes over his four seasons between 2019 and 2022, serving as a starter in 27 of them.
Jones spent the entirety of the 2022 campaign at right tackle having made the switch from right guard, the position where he had played the same number of games the year prior.
In 2022, Jones was both a CBS Sports first-team All-American as well as a member of the All-Big Ten's second team.
Part of the allure of Jones when he was being recruited was his balance of size and speed, which he showcased often on the basketball court at Bejamin Davis High School.
Prior to Ohio State, Jones was a four-star prospect according to ESPN back in 2019. Both Rivals and 247Sports rated him a three-star player, and he was ranked among the top 15 players in the state of Indiana that same year.
Among those beginning organized team activities (OTAs) this week with the Browns is former Buckeyes center Luke Wypler, who was chosen 65th overall in the 6th round.
Additionally, Ohio State safety Ronnie Hickman was signed as an undrafted free agent by Cleveland following the conclusion of the draft.
