Four-Star Cornerback Bryce West Signs with Ohio State Buckeyes

The Cleveland, Ohio-native will fill some gaps in the Ohio State Buckeyes caused by declarations to the NFL Draft, graduations and injuries.

The Ohio State Buckeyes have landed four-star cornerback Bryce West in the wee hours of early signing day on Wednesday.

The Buckeyes had a 97.2 percent chance of landing the defensive back, according to On3.

West is the second-best recruit in the state of Ohio, and seventh-best among all cornerbacks. The Cleveland, Ohio-native is listed at No. 65 on the list of top recruits in the country.

“A lot of people told me I was going to grow up and be great,” West told the Columbus Dispatch earlier this year. “I’ve just had to prove them right. I can do it all. I play with no fear.”

West signed his letter of intent to the Buckeyes after an outstanding year at Glenville High School in Cleveland, Ohio. Ohio State is just 118 miles south of Glenville, which made it almost right in West's backyard.

West made seven visits to Ohio State since 2022 (both official and unofficial). Buckeyes coach Ryan Day traveled north to see West at his home on December 10, which is credited by On3 as the only home visit West received from any of the schools with interest in him.

Most of West's recruitment time was spent talking to Ohio State defensive backs coach Tim Walton, but running backs coach Tony Alford is also credited by On3 as being a "secondary" recruiter. It is more than likely a reach, but West could be getting lined up to be another defensive-to-offensive player like former Buckeyes running back Chip Trayanum.
