Ohio State Buckeyes Betting Favorite to Land Washington State Cougars Transfer QB Cameron Ward
The Ohio State Buckeyes are in need of a new quarterback, following the loss of former starter Kyle McCord to the NCAA Transfer Portal on Monday.
And now, it appears they could be in prime position to land Washington State Cougars transfer quarterback Cameron Ward, who has lit up the Pac-12 over the last two seasons.
Per SportsBetting.ag, Ohio State is the betting favorite at +150 to land Ward, followed by USC at +200 and Texas A&M at +400.
Ward threw for 3,735 yards and 25 touchdowns during the 2023 season, along with seven interceptions. The West Columbia, Texas native ended the year with an impressive 145.4 rating and completion percentage of over 66 percent.
Transferring to Ohio State would be the second time in his career that Ward would change schools, having come to Washington State after two years with the Incarnate Word Cardinals in 2020 and 2021. Ward recorded 6,908 passing yards and 71 touchdowns over that pair of seasons with the Cardinals.
Ward's 47-touchdown season in 2021 (which also came with just under 4,700 passing yards) was enough to earn the attention of Washington State. After two years playing Power-Five football with the Cougars, Ward has almost matched his impressive passing yards total with the Cardinals.
Over the past two years with Washington State, Ward has proven is his ready and able to succeed at the Power-Five level. Leading a nationally recognized program like Ohio State would be a logical next step for Ward on his way to playing in the National Football League.
