Dawand Jones and Luke Wypler now know what numbers they'll wear as rookies with the Cleveland Browns

The Browns announced the jersey numbers for their entire rookie class Friday morning before the start of rookie minicamp. Jones will now don No. 74 after wearing No. 79 during his time at Ohio State. Wypler, who wore No. 53 in Columbus, will bump up three spots to No. 56.

Drafted 111th overall in the fourth round, Jones should immediately compete for the team's swing tackle role as a rookie. Primarily seeing action at right tackle, Jones also has experience playing inside, having started all 13 games at right guard in 2021.

Wypler, a sixth-round pick, will likely compete with Nick Harris for the backup center role behind Ethan Pocic. A former second-round pick out of LSU by the Seattle Seahawks, Pocic agreed to terms on a three-year, $18 million extension to remain with the AFC North franchise after a breakout season.

Six former Ohio State players now know what number they'll wear during the early stages of training camp, though every number could be subject to change following roster cutdowns in late August. Former quarterback Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year C.J. Stroud will keep his iconic No. 7 after being drafted No. 2 overall by the Houston Texans.

Receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba, the first pass-catching target selected in last month's draft (No. 20 overall), will keep No. 11 with Seattle. Defensive lineman Zach Harrison will hold the No. 9 as part of his persona, though the Atlanta Falcons added a 6 to the end to make him No. 96. Per the NFL jersery ruling, defensive linemen are not allowed to wear single-digit numbers.

Offensive tackle Paris Johnson Jr., who wore No. 77 in college, will be downsizing to No. 70 as a member of the Arizona Cardinals. Johnson's college number is retired by the Cardinals in honor of Stan Mauldin, an offensive tackle who died while playing for the then-Chicago Cardinals in 1948.

Cleveland also signed former defensive backs Ronnie Hickman and Tanner McCalister as undrafted free agents, but their numbers weren't announced alongside Jones and Wypler. According to the team's website, Hickman will wear No. 33, while McCalister will wear No. 48.
