Buckeyes Expect Commitment Announcement from Eddrick Houston on Tuesday
With just 11 days remaining until the Ohio State Buckeyes kick off their regular season against rival Indiana at Memorial Stadium in Bloomington, recruiting focus returns to the class of 2024. And coach Ryan Day and his staff have been diligent.
One of the biggest pieces that will fall for the 2024 cycle is five-star defensive end target Eddrick Houston - and he's set to make his commitment announcement on Tuesday.
Houston is considering offers from Alabama, Clemson, USC, Georgia and Ohio State, although the Buckeyes have been considered the favorite. USC has made a charge of late and Houston is said to have positive thoughts about each school. However, as each school knows, there are no certainties in college football recruiting, and even after commitment, schools will continue to recruit.
Houston's abilities should transfer well to the collegiate level as 247Sports points out.
“Initial get-off can cause plenty of issues for blockers but has also shown that he can win leverage and active hands while facing high-end competition in the Peach State. Must keep evolving and avoid setbacks (injured labrum winter of his 11th-grade year), but should be viewed as a potential difference-maker on Saturdays given motor, length, and burst (at one point anchored school’s 4x400 squad). Sunday potential as best football appears to still very much be ahead of him.”
Houston is the No. 4 defensive line prospect in the On3 Composite Rankings and is the No. 21 overall prospect nationally. He is also the No. 6 prospect from Georgia.
