Like the past two years, the Ohio State Buckeyes have started slow in their first game of the season.

Ohio State holds a slim 10-3 lead over the Indiana Hoosiers at halftime after both Buckeye quarterbacks Kyle McCord and Devin Brown struggled. Ohio State's lone touchdown came on a 7-yard touchdown run by running back Miyan Williams, as Jayden Fielding made a 40-yard field goal with three seconds left in the first half.

Kyle McCord helped lead the Buckeyes to one touchdown drive, but Ohio State was committed to running the ball in the first half. McCord was 10-for-16 for 94 yards and an interception, but the Buckeyes ran for 78 yards and one touchdown on 15 carries.

The Buckeyes went for it on fourth down for the second time in the half, and, after picking it up the first time, McCord rolled to his right and threw an interception. He wanted to hit running back Chip Trayanum, but after he was taken out of the play, he threw across his body and into the arms of Indiana defensive back Phillip Dunnam.

The Hoosiers drove 43 yards in eight plays and kicker Chris Freeman knocked through a 42-yard field goal that hit off the right upright and bounced through to cut the game to 7-3.

After McCord's interception, head coach Ryan Day put Brown in the game. Williams ran twice for nine yards and Brown was dropped behind the line of scrimmage for a three-yard loss on third-and-1.

Ohio State's defense held Indiana to just 89 yards in five drives, showing good push at the line of scrimmage.

Buckeyes corner Davison Igbinosun almost had his Ohio State debut ended on the second play from scrimmage after a targeting penalty was picked up after review. That was Igbinosun's lone tackle of the first half.
