What Was Ohio State WR Marvin Harrison Jr.'s Favorite Catch of His Career?
If you were to write down different spectacular catches from Ohio State Buckeyes wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. on pieces of paper and pull them out of a hat, there wouldn't be any discretion as to which one you picked as the best.
People can debate which catch is the greatest in his array of options to choose from, but what does Harrison, himself, think is his best catch in his two years in Columbus?
"I think my favorite one would be the Maryland one, first play of the game. Threw the 'go-ball,' got the one-handed pass interference," Harrison said on the Buckeyes' "Tradition Talk" series. "That was the hardest degree of difficulty for me."
Buckeyes offensive coordinator Brian Hartline had two in mind: his catch over the back of Michigan State defensive back Charles Brantley and his fourth-and-1 touchdown against Iowa.
"That was Michigan State. That one was pretty awesome," Hartline said. "But I think the fourth-and-1 one, when you lined up, you knew where the ball was going and you were the only option, like there's some pressure to that to make a play, both feet down on the sideline. I think I'm going to go for the touchdown on the Ohio route in the end zone as my favorite one."
Hartline also mentioned his contorting catch on the sideline against Indiana last year as a potential candidate, but to him, it's a "good" catch because he only got one foot down β a testament to Hartline's NFL pass-catching standard with his receiving corps.
Harrison is one of the best pass-catching NFL prospects in a long time. He hauled in 77 receptions and 118 targets last season, dropping his only three passes on the year in the final two games, according to Pro Football Focus.
The Philadelphia native will look to add to his wide array of highlight-reel catches in 2023 en route to a potential Heisman Trophy and theΒ top pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
