Ohio State's Donovan Jackson Among Nation's Best Returning OL in 2023?

Pro Football Focus has high praise for Ohio State Buckeyes offensive lineman, Donovan Jackon

The Ohio State Buckeyes may have one of the nation's best offensive linemen on their hands, in second-year left guard Donovan Jackson.

Jackson, who exploded onto the scene last season with the Buckeyes in his first year in the starting lineup, helped to pave the way for one of the most explosive offenses in the country.

And now, Jackson is bringing in the recognition, with Pro Football Focus ranking him as the No. 9 returning interior offensive lineman in college football in 2023.

Said PFF of Jackson:

Jackson was a top-15 recruit coming out of the 2021 class according to

On3 Sports’ consensus ratings

.

The sophomore began to live up to the hype this year in his first season as a starter. His 76.7 grade was a top-10 mark among Power Five guards this year while his nine big-time blocks were tied for sixth.

Last season, Ohio State finished No. 2 in the nation in scoring offense averaging more than 44 points per game.

They also finished No. 14 in passing, No. 32 in rushing, and No. 9 in total offense racking up 490.7 yards per contest.

Yes, Ohio State will be losing a host of talent to the NFL from the offensive side of the ball this spring - most notably quarterback CJ Stroud and wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba.

However, that list also includes tackle Paris Johnson, meaning Jackson's role next season will become even more critical for the Buckeyes.
