Ohio State Buckeyes commit Jeremiah Smith led the way for Team East in the 2024 All-American Bowl on Saturday.

Team East would end up losing 31-28 to Team West, but the future Buckeyes receiver had a memorable showing that set him apart from the other big names on the field.

Smith opened the game not with a catch, but with a pass. Team East ran a trick play which ended up with the ball in Smith's hands, but the receiver could not find his target downfield, resulting in an incomplete pass.

It did not take long for Smith to redeem himself, however. A handful of plays later, Arizona Wildcats quarterback Demond Williams found Smith in the endzone for a 22-yard touchdown reception, scoring the first points of the game for either team.

Ohio State offensive tackle Ian Moore was the first player to greet Smith following his touchdown catch, tossing him into the air in celebration. Moore and Smith were two of the five signees the Buckeyes had playing in the All-American Bowl, along with defensive end Eddrick Houston, running back James Peoples and linebacker Garrett Stover.

Smith's touchdown and stellar performance through the rest of the game earned him All-American Player of the Year honors following the end of the contest.

The Ohio State receiver room has lost several notable pieces since the transfer portal opened in December.

Starter Julian Fleming and up-and-comer Bryson Rogers have decided to spend next season elsewhere, and Heisman finalist Marvin Harrison Jr. is still mulling whether he will return to the Buckeyes or declare for the 2024 NFL Draft.

As of now, Smith is in line for a major role in the Ohio State offense next season, working alongside youngsters Carnell Tate and Brandon Inniss.
