The Ohio State Buckeyes are hot on the recruiting trail of four-star running back Jordan Davison from Mater Dei High School in Santa Clara, California.

Davison is one of the most sought-after recruits in the country, rated the No. 8 recruit from California, the No. 6 running back recruit, and the No. 83 recruit nationally. His Ohio State recruitment has been handled primarily by former running backs coach Tony Alford.

Alford has moved on to the Michigan Wolverines to serve as the running backs coach and running game coordinator under new head coach Sherrone Moore.

Buckeyes coach Ryan Day looked at another Big Ten program to find his replacement in former Oregon Ducks running backs coach Carlos Locklyn, who picked up Davison's recruitment where Alford left off.

“Coach Locklyn is my guy. He is one of the coaches I have a great relationship with,” Davison told On3’s Chad Simmons. “I like him a lot and it is big that he is going to Ohio State.”

After Davison visited the Buckeye last weekend, he said, “There was a lot of competitiveness and a vibe change around the program. You can tell that they are all in on winning a national championship there.”
