Ohio State Buckeyes Look Determined To Make A Title Run

The Ohio State Buckeyes continue to show why they have an argument for the No. 1 ranking in college football

Forget Dec. 31, 2022. Ohio State has its sights set on New Year's Day in 2024.

Despite injuries, run game issues, and slow starts, the Ohio State Buckeyes look ready to make their College Football Playoff run.

The Buckeyes' resume looks extremely solid, with top-25 wins over Notre Dame and Penn State, as well as top conference wins over Maryland and Wisconsin.

Though Saturday wasn't the prettiest win, junior running back TreVeyon Henderson returned and seemingly addressed problems with the run game — he put up 207 scrimmage yards and a touchdown.

Henderson and junior receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. combined for 330 of 407 total yards of offense Saturday. Harrison, meanwhile, has continued to dominate opposing secondaries, finishing with 100-plus yards in six of the Buckeyes' eight games this season.

And they have needed it.

Junior receiver Emeka Egbuka has now missed the last three games with an injury. Senior tight end Cade Stover didn't record a single reception Saturday. McCord had a tough first half with two interceptions and had an apparent injury in the second half.

Defensively they suffered a bit as as well, with senior safety Lathan Ransom getting carted off the field.

Despite all of the above, Ohio State had a two-score win over Wisconsin.

More importantly, the Buckeyes' resume now looks immensely better than both No. 1 Georgia and No. 2 Michigan, neither of which have a signature win on their respective resumés.

Though the Buckeye luck has fizzled away in their past few matchups with the Bulldogs and Wolverines — losing the last two against Michigan and the semifinal versus Georgia — this team looks determined to take on the best of the best.

Ohio State has survived tests, gotten through ups and downs at every position group, and dealt with all kinds of injuries.

Now, they are in the home stretch with just four games remaining on the schedule, including the biggest of them all against Michigan on Nov. 25.

And if they can get past the Wolverines there, they could march into the College Football Playoff as the No. 1 overall seed.
