Ohio State Preparing For 'Green Out' vs. Notre Dame
As fans around the country get ready for a massive slate of intriguing college football matchups this weekend, there is one particular game that is beginning to take the headlines - Ohio State vs. Notre Dame.
And the Fighting Irish are making a show of it.
On Saturday, the Buckeyes will travel to South Bend to take on Notre Dame, and waiting for them will be a sea of Green, with Irish fans set to complete a 'Green Out' for just the 17th time in school history.
The team announced the plans to do so this past off-season.
In 2022, the Buckeyes took down the Irish 21-10 in Columbus. At the time, Ohio State, led by C.J. Stroud was ranked No. 4, while the Irish sat at No. 18.
In 2023, however, the two will be facing off in a top-10 matchup, with the Irish ranked No. 9, and the Bucks ranked No. 6.
Not to mention, The Irish boast a Heisman candidate in quarterback Sam Hartman, while the Buckeyes have one of their own in Marvin Harrison Jr.
In other words, the 'Green Out', along with the high-profile stakes, should make for a raucous environment at Notre Dame Stadium.
The two teams have met just seven times in history, three times in Columbus, two in South Bend, once in Tempe, AZ, and once in Glendale, AZ. The Buckeyes hold the edge, at 5-2.
Notre Dame won the first two matchups in 1935 and 1936. The Buckeyes have won the last five, occurring in 1995, 1996, 2006, 2016, and 2022.
This time, the Buckeyes are favored to win yet again, opening as 3.5-point favorites.
The Irish and Buckeyes will kick off at 7:30 pm ET, with the game set to be broadcast in primetime on NBC.
