Ohio State Buckeyes RB Chip Trayanum Enters NCAA Transfer Portal
The Ohio State Buckeyes have been hurt by the NCAA Transfer Portal in a big way this week. Most notably with the loss of former starting quarterback, Kyle McCord.
On Wednesday, however, the Buckeyes lost another key player, with backup running back Chip Trayanum entering his name into the portal, according to reports.
The loss of Trayanum now leads the Buckeyes running back room uncertain heading into their Cotton Bowl matchup with the Missouri Tigers in Arlington, with Miyan Williams (who was already out for the season) declaring for the NFL Draft, Evan Pryor entering the portal, and TreVeyon Henderson still undecided as to his plans for next season.
Trayanum filled in at key spots for the Buckeyes this season, particularly when Henderson was sidelined with injuries, rushing 85 times for 373 yards and three touchdowns.
He played in all 12 games for Ohio State this season.
Trayanum's best game of the season game in the Buckeyes 63-10 win over Western Kentucky, where he rushed five times for 56 yards and a score. He was also key in the Bucks' 37-17 win over Maryland when he rushed 20 times for 61 yards and a score.
He also was responsible for the walk-off score against Notre Dame earlier in the season.
Trayanum first came to the Buckeyes as a linebacker recruit, changing positions later on, and eventually becoming a key part of the offense.
With Trayanum now out, Dallan Hayden will likely serve as the Buckeyes back up running back, as the bowl game will not affect his eligibility.
