Ryan Day and the Ohio State Buckeyes are at it again.

Less than an hour after the commitment of four-star linebacker Tarvos Alford II on Saturday, Ohio State landed its second pledge of the day, this time from four-star DePaul Catholic (Wayne, NJ) receiver De'Zie Jones.

Jones is now the 10th commitment of the 2024 class for the Buckeyes, which sits No. 1 in the nation per On3's team rankings.

Jones picked the Buckeyes over Penn State, Michigan State, and Florida, thanks in large part to Ohio State's nearly unparalleled ability to develop wideouts.

“What stands out to me is how much they develop their receivers and it proves over the years," Jones told On3. "They produce the best and I want to be next up, so learning from nice players will get me better. Also, they produce tons of DB talent, so going up against them every day will get me better. The culture over there is beautiful, can’t ask for better.”

However, that was not the only factor that drove Jones to Columbus.

The New Jersey native also revealed to On3 that he has an extremely close relationship with Ohio State wide receivers coach Brian Hartline.

“I’m super tight with the coaching staff, but I’m closest with Hartline because that’s who will put me on the field, who I put in extra work with, watch film with, everything," Jones said to On3. "So I try to be as close as possible. He told me to prove him right so he has faith in me being a great player so imma do just that.”
