'So Happy!' Alabama Center Transfer Seth McLaughlin Happy With Decision to Join Ohio State Buckeyes
Former Alabama Crimson Tide center Seth McLaughlin is happy to be out of Tuscaloosa, where he had issues snapping the ball to quarterback Jalen Milroe in the Rose Bowl loss to TTUN.
McLaughlin joined the Ohio State Buckeyes as a transfer and could not be happier to be in Columbus.
“I’m absolutely head over heels, just so happy,” he said Monday. “It’s been super refreshing being here. I love the guys in this locker room, like truly. Every single guy throughout every single position group has been so open and welcoming and just really loving. And you know, they know where I came from and I think they have respect for that. And I hope that they can see that I can add to this team in a positive way.”
Buckeyes coach Ryan Day tried to pass off McLaughlin's issues with the type of cadence Milroe was using under center. McLaughlin wouldn't comment on specifics but did say he preferred a verbal cadence that Ohio State utilizes rather than hand clapping used by the Crimson Tide.
“I think that’s been really nice,” McLaughlin said. “As a center, you can get to time up when you’re gonna have to snap it. If you get a ‘wide 80′ (call from the quarterback), you have that whole thing to kind of load up and you know when you’re going to snap the ball, rather than waiting just for a clap.
