The Notre Dame Fight Irish matchup against the Ohio State Buckeyes for the 2023 college football season will be one of the more anticipated early-season games on the calendar.

Notre Dame will host the Buckeyes in South Bend on September 23. And now, that game time and TV listing have been set, with the game set to kick off at 7:30 pm ET on NBC and Peacock.

In the first game of the 2022 season, Ohio State beat the Irish 21-10, before Notre Dame would also lose the following weekend to Marshall.

The two teams have met just seven times in history, three times in Columbus, two in South Bend, once in Tempe, AZ and once in Glendale, AZ. The Buckeyes hold the edge, at 5-2.

Notre Dame won the first two matchups in 1935 and 1936. The Buckeyes have won the last five, occurring in 1995, 1996, 2006, 2016, and 2022.

The September matchup will look quite different, as both teams will have largely turned over their rosters from a year ago.

Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud, offensive tackle Paris Johnson Jr., and wideout Jaxon Smith-Njigba are all projected to be first-round picks in next month's NFL Draft.

Notre Dame will have a new signal-caller too, as former Wake Forest quarterback Sam Hartman joins the Irish for 2023.
