Buckeyes Creative Team Drops Week 2 Game Trailer vs. Youngstown State

The Ohio State Buckeyes are set to open their season at Ohio Stadium Saturday against the Youngstown State Penguins, and the theme of the Week 2 game trailer was "Our Honor Defend."

The No. 5 Ohio State Buckeyes took care of business in Bloomington, Indiana, against the Hoosiers in Week 1, but now they return home.

Ohio Stadium awaits the Buckeyes taking the field for the first time in 2023, and to welcome the occasion, Ohio State's creative team dropped a trailer that had an "Our Honor Defend" theme, which stems from the lyrics to "Buckeye Battle Cry."

The video hones in on themes of the 'Shoe, opening with "Carmen Ohio" being sang.

After sights and sounds were shown of Ohio State's 23-3 victory against Indiana, the theme shifted to defending Ohio Stadium. Shots of the student's section waving their cell phone flashlights on — a new night-game second-half tradition — and fans holding their shoes in the air on kickoffs were met with FOX play-by-play announcer Gus Johnson's narration, "And welcome to Columbus; 100,000-plus in attendance. Here we go."

The hype trailer showed off shots from Ohio State's "Black Out The 'Shoe" theme game as well as "Script Ohio" being performed on the field. As overlays of the Ohio Stadium crowd singing along to The White Stripes' "Seven Nation Army" played, the creative team added the subtle chime of AC/DC's "Hells Bells," which plays every time the opposition faces a third down.

"You get in that stadium, man," head coach Ryan Day said in the video. "I'm telling you, it's going to be electric."

After play-by-play Brent Musberger narrated that it keeps getting "loud and louder here at The Horseshoe in Columbus," the video closed with an overhead shot of Ohio Stadium and the closing lyrics of "Carmen Ohio" being sang in harmony: "How firm thy friendship? O-HI-O."

The Buckeyes kick off their home opener against the Youngstown State Penguins at noon on Big Ten Network.
