The Ohio State Buckeyes spring game is still in its early stages, but star wide receiver Emeka Egbuka is already making waves.

Midway through the second quarter, Egbuka might have made the play of the day, hauling in an insane one-handed catch on the sideline from his new quarterback Will Howard, and sending the crowd into a stunned silence.

The play went for 19 yards, giving the No. 1 offense a first down at the 12 yard line. Following the completion, Howard had completed 9 of his 10 passes for 78 yards.

Egbuka is entering the 2024 season as the Buckeyes de facto No. 1 receiver after the departure of Marvin Harrison Jr. to the NFL, announcing his return to the program in January.

Egbuka had garnered significant draft buzz entering the 2023 season, with some analysts believing he'd be a first-round pick.

He finished the season with 41 catches for 515 yards and four touchdowns. His two best games came against Notre Dame and Michigan, where he posted a combined 10 catches for 121 yards and a touchdown.

In 2022, Egubka emerged as a breakout star for the Buckeyes' offense in place of Jaxon Smith-Njigba in the slot. He hauled in 74 passes for 1,151 yards and 10 touchdowns, helping the Buckeyes secure a spot in the College Football Playoff semifinal.

Egbuka's return will give the Buckeyes consistency in the slot for new quarterback Will Howard, who is still learning the new system and attempting to develop chemistry with the receivers. He will lead a very inexperienced - albeit extremely talented - wide receiver room entering spring practice, which includes up-and-comers Carnell Tate, Brandon Inniss, and five-star freshman Jeremiah Smith.
