Ohio State, Michigan Players, Alumni To Compete In Fortnite Event Ahead Of The Game
On Sunday, just six days before Ohio State hosts Michigan in what will likely be their first meeting as undefeated teams since 2006, players and alumni from both programs will compete in an online Fortnite tournament.
The tournament will feature 16 teams – eight comprised of Buckeyes and eight comprised of Wolverines – with one current player, one former player, a student from the Buckeyes’ esports program and one professional esports player or social media influencer per team.
Current Ohio State players set to compete in the tournament include quarterback C.J. Stroud, running back Miyan Williams, wide receiver Emeka Egbuka, defensive ends Javontae Jean-Baptiste and J.T. Tuimoloau, defensive tackles Taron Vincent and Tyleik Williams and safety Ronnie Hickman.
Former players include quarterbacks Troy Smith, Braxton Miller and Cardale Jones, running back Daniel “Boom” Herron, wide receivers Devin Smith, DeVier Posey and Chris Fields and linebacker Ryan Shazier. The winning team will split $25,000 and the winning school’s esports program will receive an additional $25,000.

Those participating will also stream the tournament – which will take place on a custom map – on their social media channels, including Instagram and Twitter.
